Are you struggling with keeping your home organized? Do you forget where items are in your home? Are you tired of the clutter? Then you have come to the right place. In this post, I will give you some tips on keeping your home organized in 2020 like a pro. This will be part of my home organizational series, and I will have other blog posts created around this one post.
Everything should have a designated place
One of the things that I do in my home is to make sure I have a place for everything. I know you know the saying “ A place for everything and everything in its place,” or something like that, lol. This quote is the truth. You need to look around your home and designate spaces and places where everything needs to go.
You can start by throwing unused items away. This is one of the easiest ways to help keep your home organized. I was that person that would try to hold on to every piece of decor or home gadget I owned. I realized that the mess kept piling up, and I no longer had room for it. Now you don’t necessarily have to “throw things in the trash.” You can donate unused items to your family and friends. You can even donate items to any consignment shop. Another good idea is to sell the items you no longer want.
Buying extra bins and crates is a great way to help you stay organized if you don’t have adequate storage in your home.
Clean up messes as you go
You will make things easier on yourself if you clean as you go. Whenever I prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I clean up the mess as I make it. When the meal is ready, I am left with the dishes and a few pots I used to cook with. I am not scrambling around picking up food waste or any other trash.
The clean as you go method also works well if you have little ones that love bringing their toys all around the house. You may want to try this tip, only allow them to play with one toy at a time. When they are finished playing with that toy, have them put that toy back before taking out another one. I love this tip because I don’t have to worry about cleaning up a million toys after my little ones finish playing.

Keeping a simple organizing schedule helps you from becoming too overwhelmed. I like to designate certain days to organize different areas in my home.
For example: Monday- Organize Pantry and Closets
Tuesday- Organize cabinets and drawers
Wednesday- Wash and fold clothes
You get my point, just stick with a schedule that works for keeping your home organized.
Find short cuts
No organized home is complete without making sure it stays clean. Here are a few tips that help me stay on top of the mess. It would be best if you tried throwing the dishes in the dishwasher a few times out of the week. You can put them in the dishwasher every night if you’d like.
Let your home gadgets help you. I have been wanting to get my hands on one of those electronic vacuum cleaners. It picks up most of the dirt from your floors and carpet.
You could also hire a cleaning company to come in and clean quarterly.
As always, I hope you find this post helpful. Please leave me your comments. I would love to hear how you are keeping your homes organized.
