- Why you shouldn’t waste your time on nonsense
- Block scheduling is needed
- Stress management is important
- Is brain dumping a thing
- Organize your busy mom day around your real life
Why you need to create an action plan
It will not be enough to say that you want to be organized unless you work towards daily tasks to get you there. It would help if you created a plan of action. To make any of the tips, I’m about to share work.
You can start small by only working on a few daily tasks and work your way up to more tasks. For example, make it a point to write down three critical tasks you must get done every day. An action plan will hold you accountable and help you focus on what you must do daily.
Do busy moms use planners?
Girl, get yourself a planner quickly. Using a planner helps you remember important dates, appointments, or tasks. It’s ok if you are not a paper planner type of person. You can use a digital planner.
It will be hard to organize your day if you don’t know what you have to get done and when you have to do it. Being a busy mom means keeping up with multiple tasks a day.
I use my planner as a road map to help me navigate my day. I will include an example below of a typical day when I’m off from 9 to 5 (Some things change daily).
- 8:00 am- Wake up and do a morning routine
- 8:45 am- Make breakfast
- 9:30 am- Clean Kitchen
- 10:30 am- Laundry
- 11:45 am- Write a
- blog post
- 1:00pm- Make lunch
- 3:00pm- Play with kiddos
- 4:00 pm- Start prepping dinner
- 6:00 pm- Get kids ready for a bath
- 7:00 pm- Clean Kitchen
- 8:00 pm- Get kids in bed
- 9:00 pm- Mommy time

You need to have a clear mind
I firmly believe that a clean space allows for a clear mind. You can process and think more clearly when your home life is organized.
Try organizing and cleaning the space around you and see how that helps clear your mind. When your mind is clear, you will notice how less likely you are to forget where you have placed things.
Everyone should have a list of chores
Everyone should have a list of chores that they do every day. If you want to have an organized day, then make sure to get your family to help out. Busy moms already have enough on their plates.
My kids are still young but have small things they are in charge of. Zoe is four, so I make sure she helps me clean her room. My daughter doesn’t put away her toys perfectly each day, but she tries to help. The rule is to put the other toy away for each toy you take out.
Hubby has a list of things that he is responsible for. I make sure our home is clean, and he handles the upkeep. He changes the air filters and other handyman things in and outside our home.
Why you shouldn’t waste your time on nonsense
You are already a busy mom. When you think about how you want to plan your day, try to only focus on the most important things. It’s so easy to get off track with your daily tasks. For example, If you have planned to take the kids to their doctor’s appointment, pick up groceries, and take the dog to the vet. Try not to get sidetracked when a friend or family member wants you to stop what you’re doing to have a venting session. You will more than likely lose track of time.
Your day is crazy enough. You probably don’t want other things distracting you. If you find it hard to focus on the task at hand, try to incorporate things that help you concentrate better. I have to make it a point to silence my phone. If not, I get easily distracted by text messages and notifications.
Block scheduling is needed
I’m sure all my busy moms out there have heard of block scheduling. If you haven’t, then I highly suggest you try it out. Many busy moms may work outside the home, so you may be more familiar with this method than you think.
I have a blog post showing you how I use BLOCK SCHEDULING. I love this planning method because it gives you a play-by-play of what times you should work on tasks and what time you should end the tasks you are working on. If you find a block schedule too hard, use this method as a guide. It’s ok if you don’t follow it to the T.
Stress management is important
Organizing your day as a busy mom does not have to be stressful. Organizing your day is meant to help keep your stress levels down. Look, I get it. I know that you are tired and maybe a little bit overwhelmed. But, I think as moms, we all experience this on a monthly, weekly, or even a daily basis.
Stress management is so essential for busy moms. That’s why I make it a point to do something every day to bring me back to my center of calmness. It can be as easy as taking a hot shower or listening to something relaxing a few moments before going to bed.
Is brain-dumping a thing?
What is brain dumping, you may be asking? It is a method of writing down every thought you have before you go to sleep. By doing this, you won’t be distracted by your thoughts. Instead, you can focus on truly sleeping and getting rest for the next day.
I love to brain dump because I am less likely to forget important things I want to work on for the next day.
Organize your busy mom day around your real life
Organizing your day around your real-life means managing your day around YOUR LIFE and not anyone else’s. I know we read dozens of blog posts on how to do things, but honestly, you must cater your day to what will help you.
I would say read different posts and research different organizing strategies. Then use tips that work best for you and your family. I used to try to incorporate all these different strategies, and at the end of the day, nothing seemed to work. You don’t have to use all my tips. Pick a few that speak to you and run with that.
I hope my post on how to organize your day as a busy mom has been helpful. Leave a comment below and let me know your best busy mom organization tips. I would love to hear from you.
